I thought for sure it was an antique goldmine but as I researched it, I learned it's pretty recent. You
know what though? The fact that I have one tea cup and saucer from this
amazing set makes it that much more valuable to me. It's the only one
we have.
After all this excitement, would you be surprised that after a while I was struck with some sadness? Why was this one set on the shelf?
Symbolically...
... Biblical liberty mistakenly gets mixed in with common ideas of liberty, but she is unique and not found like this in any other form of government...
... what is it about liberty that stands out among the common? (this is my husband's thought)
... many of our civil liberties have been taken away and... some are sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to rediscover them, reclaim them
... too much of America's Providential Christian Heritage is forgotten
... and not taught to our future generations...
...sitting on a shelf collecting dust...
Webster's 1828 Dictionary:
Liberty, n.
1. Freedom from restraint, in a general sense, and applicable to
the body, or to the will or mind. The body is at liberty, when not
confined; the will or mind is at liberty, when not checked or
controlled.
"And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts." Psalm 119:45
"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
2 Corinthians 3:17
Like the cup in this set, our nation's heritage and our liberties have been chipped and set on a shelf. Why?
Some folks are of the mind that it isn't important to work toward restoring America. They just want Jesus (Yeshua) to return. Well, He will return... but in the meantime what are we to do? Just party? To just float? We are to occupy until He returns (Luke 19:13). That is to say that we are to possess... to improve. As
believers we have liberty in Christ... we are no longer bound
(restrained) by the law of sin. As we choose to walk in His precepts, we will walk at liberty. If we desire to walk in civil
liberty as well as spiritual liberty, we need to choose to live our lives as being governed
under Christ. In doing so, we may be rightly involved in the civil sphere.
God is involved in the lives and nations of men to.this.day. Let us not be so busy enjoying our liberties that we forget to show gratitude and do what we can to protect them.
Liberty
love her
cherish her
guard her
Blessings,
