Self-Government Tickets! Encourage and Motivate Your Kids!

Have you ever seen *Kindness Tickets*? One of my daughters had pointed them out to me when we were shopping. There were only four categories on the tickets we saw but this got the wheels turning! I thought it may help encourage and motivate my children (they need it some days more than others) if they had something like this to give them daily feedback. So, I created some *Self-Government Tickets* based off of the categories for The Noah Plan Curriculum report cards.

What will I have them do with the tickets? Maybe I'll have them collect them in an envelope and bring them to our weekly family meetings. They can make sure I don't overlook areas they have been working on. :)  Sometimes something tangible to see daily can be encouraging vs. waiting for acknowledgement at a weekly meeting. But maybe some of you have already had that figured out. :)

Do you think you'll use them in your homeschool? What do you think you'd have your kids do with them? I could use some help with ideas. Please leave a comment below!

  1. Oh, I like this idea! Thank you for making these and letting us use them. I think some positive feedback and reminders about what we are trying to accomplish will help a lot.

  2. Can you explain this a little further to me? Do they just carry the card to remind themselves or do you give them a card with an item checked when you seeing them exhibiting that characteristic?

    1. Thank you for your question. What I'm doing is checking an item at the end of the day and then giving them their the tickets (cards) before bedtime. They put the tickets in their envelopes which they keep in a pocket in their notebooks. They like to keep their tickets private from each other and wait for acknowledgement at our family meetings. We're giving acknowledgement at our family meetings so we can encourage each other in the areas of individual growth.

I think it can be flexible with how individual families would like to go about though. It'd be wonderful if readers would share their ideas so we can inspire each other to find a way that may be suitable for our individual families. :)

      Blessings!

  5. I was thinking of letting them fill one out for themselves as well - as I am trying to encourage my teens to be aware of their own actions, behavior, strengths and challenges. Any thoughts about how that might work?
Thanks so much for sharing these!!

    1. That's a great idea! I think it has potential to help them be more conscientious of their actions and can offer a great opportunity for dialog. I may try it with our oldest two. :)

  6. Hi Heather, I appreciated the self-government cards. The idea of 'tangible motivation' is one we use over at Moti-Venture too. Perhaps we have something your family could use. Feel free to stop by our website and check it out. (wwww.moti-venture.com) Thanks and have a nice day. :)
