Thanksgiving Day: Crafts, Reading, Pondering, And A Special Announcement

As the air crispens and leaves rest on frosty floors, we are prepping for Thanksgiving Day. Yes, we are to give thanks in all things each and every day. However, that does not downplay this special historical day where we remember God's Providential Hand, religious freedom, the Pilgrims and the Native Americans who helped them. It is a time of remembrance, to be thankful for the afore mentioned... to reflect on how these Providential events led to the founding of our nation on Biblical Principles.

I wish our country made a bigger to do about the Christian Heritage of Thanksgiving Day than it does...

I am thankful we have so much in the way of reliable, original documents which educate us about the Pilgrims. As I contemplate the lives of the Pilgrims, I find that I admire their faith. Last year, during my Word Study on Worship, I learned how they separated themselves from the traditions of the Roman church with a heart to worship God as close to the teachings of the Bible as they understood how. I learned that to worship *freely* wasn't with a spirit of, "It's all relative and He sees my heart." Freely meant according to the Word of God:

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." {John 4:24 KJV}

Truth. It not subjective. God tells us in the Bible how He wants to be worshiped and He wants us to worship according to that truth and in spirit. No legalism. Simply... truth and spirit.

Much to ponder...

Today, I am creating cards for Thanksgiving Day...

I used photo copies of the Five Kernels of Corn poem by Hezekiah Butterworth. An alternate poem for some cards is the following one by Gov. William Bradford:

“Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are; and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many...”

Once I played with Mod Podge, I wanted to Mod Podge just about every craft project I could get my hands on! Mixed Media cards are no exception.
